About Rockmylobsterx
What is Rockmylobsterx?
Rockmylobsterx is a one girl operation run by me, Linzy Kerr, from my tiny little studio in Glasgow. I specialise in putting lots of care and attention into creating unusual and quirky jewellery and accessories.
Why was Rockmylobsterx created?
I found that a lot of the jewellery on the high street is a bit boring with a lot of people wearing the same things, and vintage jewellery pieces can be really hard to find (not to mention expensive!) so my solution was to make my own pieces. I often received compliments on pieces I wore, and so, in 2003, Rockmylobsterx was born.
How did Rockmylobsterx get started?
Rockmylobsterx goods were first available on eBay before they were available for purchase through the Rockmylobsterx blog. After news of Rockmylobsterx travelled, several brick and mortar stores (such as ReVamp, Stars'n'Spikes) began to stock some pieces and distro fairs (in places like the 13th Note) also helped to build up the reputation of Rockmylobsterx.
Are the pieces really vintage?
Several of the components in Rockmylobsterx pieces will stand a good chance of being older than you are! A few are new, but some of the components have been wrapped up in their original packaging in a factory for over 50 years, others were once part of a necklace that a lovely old lady gave me , whilst others still I've picked up from markets and antique shops worldwide. This means that some signs of aging may show, but you don't have to worry - nothing damaged or defective will be used.
Where does the name Rockmylobsterx come from?
There's a common assumption that Rockmylobsterx was named so because I love the B52s. Of course I do love them, but the name Rockmylobsterx is taken from a poem I wrote in AH English (whilst everyone else wrote sensible soppy ones) about a crab and lobster fighting in a window in Chinatown - based on a true story.
